Haddonfield Baseball Team Falls In Sectional Final

The Haddonfield Memorial High School baseball team fell to West Deptford, 5-3, in the South Jersey Group 2 final on Friday.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — The Haddonfield Memorial High School baseball team’s season has come to a close with a trip to the sectional final.

RJ Mason hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning to propel second-seeded West Deptford to a 5-3 win over No. 1 Haddonfield in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 championship gameon Friday, according to nj.com.

After falling behind 4-0, Haddonfield cut the deficit to one with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. However, West Deptford posted one more run and held on for the victory and its first sectional title since 2016.

Chris Brown was 2-for-2 with two walks, a double and an RBI for Haddonfield. Alex Kadar also had an RBI for the Bulldawgs. Dylan Heine pitched a complete game, striking out four batters, but allowing five runs — 3 earned — on nine hits.

Haddonfield finished the season with a record of 22-4, according to nj.com. In the first round of the playoffs, Haddonfield defeated No. 16 Lower Cape May, 4-1, according to nj.com. In the quarterfinals, Haddonfield defeated No. 9 Sterling, 9-0. In the semifinals, Haddonfield defeated No. 5 Haddon Heights, 11-4.
