Haddonfield Board Of Commissioners To Resume In-Person Meetings

The Haddonfield Board of Commissioners will return to in-person meetings, with the goal of holding hybrid meetings beginning in the fall.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — The Haddonfield Board of Commissioners will return to in-person meetings after Gov. Phil Murphy lifted nearly all the previous restrictions that had been in place regarding the coronavirus pandemic, borough officials announced.

It is also looking into the possibility of conducting hybrid meetings, so that residents who need to participate virtually can continue to do so.

“Transparency is a priority, so I would like to offer hybrid meetings in the near future, as these would enable more residents to participate in our meetings,” Haddonfield Mayor Colleen Biancho Bezich said.

The township will explore ways to conduct hybrid meetings this summer, with the goal of beginning to hold hybrid meetings in the fall, Bezich said.

The Planning Board, Zoning Board and Historic Preservation Commission meetings that have already been noticed for June will take place virtually, as scheduled. They will be held in-person in July.

“We don’t want applicants to incur any additional expense or miss a deadline by having to issue new notices, which may actually end up confusing members of the public who support or object to these applications,” Bezich said.

Additionally, members of the public are no longer required to wear masks when visiting Borough Hall.

The Mabel Kay Senior Center and the 65 Club have both also reopened to the public for indoor and outdoor activities.

“I’m looking forward to seeing many more un-masked, smiling faces this summer,” Bezich said. “But it’s important that we all remain respectful of others who may choose to continue masking or keeping socially distant out of an abundance of caution.”

The un-maskings and reopening follow the lifting Friday of all indoor gathering and capacity limits, as well as restrictions related to dance floors at bars and restaurants. Read more here: Another Big Reopening Day In NJ: What You Can Do Now Amid COVID
