Haddonfield Girls Soccer Team Falls In State Playoffs

Wall rallied for a comeback win over Haddonfield in the state semifinals on Wednesday, according to nj.com.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — The Haddonfield Memorial High School girls soccer team’s season has come to an end with an overtime loss in the state playoffs.

MacKenzie Tranberg scored in overtime to help Wall rally for a 2-1 win over Haddonfield in the NJSIAA State Group 2 semifinals on Wednesday, according to nj.com. Katie McCormick had given Haddonfield a 1-0 lead with a goal early in the second half, but Kiersten Brown scored the equalizer in the 68th minute.

Wall advanced to the state championship game for the third time in four years. Haddonfield finished the season with a record of 17-5-2.

Haddonfield was in the state tournament after beating Cinnaminson, 3-0, to win the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 title. Jordan Siok, Katie McCormick and Keegan Douglas scored for Haddonfield in the win.

Before Wednesday’s loss, Haddonfield outscored its opponents, 20-1. Haddonfield had surrendered its only goal of the playoffs in its 8-1 first round win over No. 16 Manchester Township. Katie McCormick had a hat trick in that game.

Haddonfield shut out No. 8 Cedar Creek, 4-0, in the quarterfinals. McCormick and Jordan Siok each scored twice in the win. Keegan Douglas had two assists, and Sara Smith had one for the Bulldawgs.

Haddonfield advanced to the South Jersey final with a 5-0 win over No. 5 Pinelands in the semifinals. McCormick had two goals and goalie Maya Olimpio made eight saves.
