Haddonfield, Haddon Baseball Teams Set For Diamond Classic

Haddonfield and Haddon Township qualified for South Jersey's unofficial championship tournament, which has a new look this year.

The Haddofield Memorial and Haddon Township high school baseball teams have qualified for the new look Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic.

Haddonfield qualified for South Jersey’s unofficial baseball championship tournament as the first place team in the Colonial Conference's Liberty Division, according to the Courier Post. Haddon Township qualified as the first place team in the Colonial Conference's Patriot Division.

Haddonfield is the No. 8 seed and will host No. 9 Moorestown, the first place team among the Burlington County Scholastic League's large schools, in the first round. Haddon Township is the No. 16 seed and will visit No. 1 seed Cherry Hill West, which earned an at-large berth, in the first round. The winners of those two games will meet in the second round.

Automatic spots go to the 10 teams in first place in each of South Jersey’s divisions, and six teams qualify as at-large selections. However, this year, teams are seeded 1 through 16 instead of being matched up based on how they qualified, according to nj.com.

First round matchups must be played by May 8. Second round games and semifinals will take place on Saturday, May 11 at Washington Township. The final is set for Wednesday, May 15, 6:30 p.m. at Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees.
