Haddonfield Jewish Center Hosted the 9th of Av services

A day of mourning a day of hope with eyes towards the future

As Tisha B’Av approached, the saddest day of the Jewish year, "we sense an even greater urgency to be focused on praying for Israel and the Jewish People worldwide. Tishah B’Av refers to the ninth day of the Hebrew month Av, this year being July 21-July 22." said Cantor Scott Borsky as he began the devoted service for peace and tranquility at the Haddonfield Jewish Center. Faithful followers of the Cantor gathered from as far away as Long Beach Island, Greater Geneva area of France, and all the way around the world.. from Centre Street Haddonfield on Sunday, July 22 from 4:00pm-5:00pm

at the Haddonfield Jewish Center. Neighbors who have lived in Haddonfield for thirty years on Windsor avenue and and on Centre Street had not met before this Sunday because they are members of synagogues in different locations... and the arrival of yet more hidden Jews of Haddonfield on this sad occasion was a pleasant surprise for the Haddonfield Jewish Center Founding President Dr Ilise L Feitshans JD and ScM and DIR who was welcoming everyone including her husband, whose real life full time job is serving as the caretaker of ACCIAR synagogue in France

"My husband is not usually here in the USA because his job living in the synagogue is so very demanding" Dr Feitshans explained, " therefore coming home to a synagogue where we live is a sort of busman's holiday for him... not merely riding the bus but driving it while on vacation" noting that he had already begun household chores changing faucets and hanging bookshelves and artwork inside the household used for prayers and worship.

Followers from facebook joined Cantor Borsky in recognition of themany terrible eents that have befallen the Jewish people on the 9th f Av which was not only the date of the destruction of the temple but also the starting day of the order for expulsion that began the Spanish Inquisition in 1492 and a date deliberately chosen by persecutors in 1935 and the 1940s. Noting that people of good will have overcome these terrible events, Cantor Borsky described the day as one full of hope after fasting.

"We commemorate this day of mourning with prayer, stories and song, and collectively bring hope for the future." said Cantor Borsky
