Haddonfield Middle School Goes Full-Remote Due To Coronavirus

Haddonfield Middle School will be under a full-remote learning model beginning Wednesday due to positive coronavirus cases.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Following six confirmed cases of the coronavirus in four days, Haddonfield Middle School will move to a full-remote model for the next week, the school district announced Tuesday night.

Four of those cases involved contact tracing and quarantining due to close contacts, Haddonfield Superintendent of Schools Chuck Klaus said in a letter to the school community.

The school will be closed from Dec. 16-23, according to the district. The specific schedule can be found here, and it will be changing as the district works around conference schedules.

There has also been what the school district referred to as a significant decrease in the number of students physically in school due to quarantine and an increase in requests for full virtual instruction.

“The educational benefit of having significantly more students virtual and fewer students in person also played a role in this decision,” Klaus said. “Keeping the safety and wellness of our students and staff as our top priority, we believe implementing the full virtual model is the optimal way to proceed.

“This decision was not arrived at easily. We hoped to stay the course and continue to offer in-person instruction; however, it became evident that the best course of action was to take these precautionary steps.”
