HADDONFIELD, NJ — Three Haddonfield residents who want to see the downtown return after the new coronavirus pandemic ends are raising money to help restaurants and retail shops help pay their bills during the current shutdown.

Sara Blackburn, Megan York Parker and Bob Hochgertel have launched the Haddonfield Here for Good downtown small business fundraising campaign. They are selling white t-shirts that read “Haddonfield Here for Good. We are in this together. Help keep local businesses here for good,” with a graphic that depicts a representation of Downtown Haddonfield. Shirts are $20, with 50 percent of each sale going to the business of the buyer’s choice to help them pay their rent, payroll, bills, etc. All proceeds benefit Haddonfield’s small businesses as a whole.

Shirts are available for purchase at haddonfieldhereforgood.com. They will be produced by a local printer for pickup in May. The online store opened April 13, they’ve already sold nearly 700 shirts. Local businesses can enroll through April 30, and the program will remain in place as long as interest lasts.

Blackburn, Parker and Hochgertel have lived in Haddonfield for more than 70 years altogether, according to the website. They are all very active in the borough, and were deeply concerned when they saw the impact the coronavirus pandemic was having on the downtown. They launched Haddonfield Here for Good on April 2.

The initial Here For Good campaign was started by Sloan Coleman, owner of Tiny Little Monster, a screen printing company in St. Louis, Missouri. Her campaign, HereForGoodStl has raised over $50,000 for small businesses in that area. On their website it says, "We are sharing our concept with like-minded shops to create a fundraiser that can help the world during this difficult economic time."

The three Haddonfield residents got Coleman’s blessing and began putting their local campaign together. For more, visit https://www.haddonfieldhereforgood.com/the-people.
