Obituary: Angelina “Angie” E. Ablonczy

The beloved Haddonfield resident made aircraft radios for warplanes during WWII and was a Democratic Committee Woman for 40 years. Services will be held on Friday.

Angelina “Angie” E. Ablonczy(nee Innacola), 92, of Haddonfield, died Monday, June 11.

Formerly of Colonia, NJ, she was the beloved wife of Paul L., Jr.; loving mother of Janice Cokos  (John), Jerelyn Ablonczy (Eric Brosz) both of Haddonfield and Joanne Popeson (Dennis) of Linwood; devoted grandmother of Paige Rienzo, Brie Cokos, Maria and Paul Ablonczy and Spenser Popeson; great-grandmother of Xavier, Luke and Nico; sister of Eleanor Cobo, Jennie Maraziti and Virginia Hulmes.

Born the second of six children on May 1, 1920 in Morristown, Angie enjoyed 92 years of loyal service to family and country. Despite her numerous accolades for volunteerism, her active political life as a Democratic Committee woman for 40 years, and her unique talents as a master seamstress, Angie’s greatest pride and passion was her family.

She was famous for her unmatched tomato sauce and apple pie as well as her uncanny ability to soothe babies. Her ability to sew anything from curtains to wedding gowns was legendary and her home was always filled with a variety of her hand-made clothing, draperies and fabric-crafts. Angie was a very proud American, famous for her phrase, “love it or leave it!”  She made aircraft radios for warplanes during WWII and continued as American Legion Auxiliary President.

She also gave over six thousand hours of volunteer service to Perth Amboy General Hospital, sewing dolls and gifts for hospital residents and taught sewing at Woodbridge High School to adults. She was immensely proud of her daughters, their accomplishments, careers, and families. Her generous spirit of service and selflessness lives on in her survivors’ memoriesand  hearts forever.

Mrs. Ablonczy’s family will receive friends on Friday, June 15th, 10-11 a.m., at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Christ the King R.C. Church, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield.

Interment, B.G. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
