Over 100 Pets Adopted During Camden County's Clear The Shelter
The Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center in Camden County waived fees for adopting pets during the national event over the weekend.
A total of 161 animals were adopted during the Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center’s Clear the Shelter event over the weekend, according to Camden County officials. The shelter — formerly the Camden County Animal Shelter — waived adoption fees on all animals in the shelter during the annual event, a nationwide adoption drive organized by NBC/Telemundo stations.
There were 153 pets adopted on Saturday, and eight on Sunday for a total of 161, according to Camden County spokesperson Kyle Sullender. “It was by far our largest, and most successful, Clear the Shelters to date,” Sullender said.
After connecting 87 pets with new families during last year’s event, officials were hoping to surpass 100 during this year’s drive, according to Camden County Freeholder Jonathan Young, liaison to Homeward Bound. Young said he would ultimately like to see all the pets in the shelter find a new home.
