Time Extended For Monday's Haddonfield Candidates Forum

After receiving questions from residents, the Haddonfield Civic Association has decided to extend its candidates forum scheduled for Monday.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — After receiving questions from residents, the Haddonfield Civic Association has decided to extend its candidates forum scheduled for Monday night.

The forum will now take place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. via Zoom. It has been extended a half hour, as it was scheduled to end at 9:30 p.m.

The participating candidates will explain why they are running for commissioner or seeking re-election. They will discuss their platform and answer questions submitted in advance. The forum will be moderated by a representative from the League of Women Voters.

Each candidate will open with a 90-second statement. This will be followed by a question-and-answer period, in which the moderator has the authority to determine whether a question will be asked, the order of questions. He or she may disallow a question if it is a personal attack and/or not related to election issues.

Candidates will have 90 seconds questions directed to them specifically, and the other candidates will each be given one minute to respond.

If a question is directed to all candidates, or if the moderator decides the question should be answered by all candidates, each candidate will have 1 minute to respond.

Answers will be timed by a League of Women’s Voters member. Candidates may also decline to answer a question. Each candidate will then close with a 90-second statement. More information is available at www.HaddonfieldCivic.com.

Commissioners Jeffrey Stephen Kasko and Colleen Bianco Bezich are running for re-election. Adam Puff, Kathryn Raiczyk, Kevin Roche, Mark Rusc, Frank Troy, and Daniel Zhang are also running for the three open seats. Mayor Neal Rochford has opted not to run for re-election.

Voters will have the chance to vote in-person after an election that was held mostly by mail last year amid the coronavirus pandemic. See related: Haddonfield Voters To Cast Their Ballots In-Person This Spring

The deadline for new voters to register is April 20. Residents may register at https://voter.svrs.nj.gov/register.

Vote-by-mail applications must be mailed to the Camden County Board of Elections by May 4. After that, they must be hand-delivered to the Board of Elections' Office, 100 University Court in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township.

For voter registration forms, mail-in ballot applications and a list of polling locations, visit the Clerk's Office in Borough Hall, 242 Kings Highway East, or visit the borough's website.
