Unlocked Bikes Grow Legs
Several bike owners learn the hard way—never leave your ride unsecured or someone may take advantage.

Haddonfield Police took reports on multiple bike thefts, fraud and a break-in.
Aug. 8: Fraud
A resident filed a police report to complain of fraud at 1:55 p.m. Aug. 8. An unknown person obtained the victim’s credit card and attempted to purchase a MacBook Pro.

Aug. 11: Bike Theft
Three beach cruiser bicycles were stolen from a driveway on the 200 block of Lake Street at 6 p.m. Aug. 11. Two of the bikes belonged to the complainant’s children and the other to a family friend.

Aug. 15: Bike Theft
An unlocked bike was stolen between 2 and 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 15 from the unit block of Kings Highway East. The bike is a men’s beach cruiser. No value or serial number was available.
Aug. 15: Break-In
A business on the 500 block of Haddon Avenue was broken into between 6 p.m. Aug. 15 and 11:05 a.m. Aug. 16. An unknown suspect did not take anything, but damaged a knob on an employee’s office door.
Aug. 16: Bike Theft
A resident on the unit block of Kings Highway East reported a child’s bike stolen on Aug. 16. The bike was left unlocked in front of the home with several others, but was the only one taken. It was stolen sometime between 2 and 2:45 p.m., the resident reported. The bike, a 21-speed boys’ mountain bicycle, is worth $160. No serial number was available for tracking.
