After Death Of Former Hoboken High Athlete, Fundraiser Launched
After a former Hoboken High School football player passed away, friends have started a fundraiser.
HOBOKEN, NJ — After Hoboken High School 2015 graduate Mike Williamson passed away, friends held a vigil outside the Hoboken football field and have started a fundraiser.
"We started this fundraiser for a young man, whom we've had the blessed honor of knowing and caring for many years of his young life," wrote Lori Clifford, an organizer of the GoFundMe that started Wednesday. "Mike Williamson, Hoboken Redwing Class of 2015, tragically taken from this world too soon, was the most humble, caring, selfless child of God. His infectious smile, his hugs, his text messages to say 'Happy Birthday' or 'how are you' never ceased, even after everyone went their separate ways."
A friend posted a tribute on Facebook as well.

The organizers added, "He gave of himself, unselfishly, never asking anything in return ... having been touched by this angel, I ask that we (his family and friends) show our love and support for his loving mother Ernestine, Tamia, Mike Sr. and his family during these difficult times for his memorial and arrangements. His mother Ernestine will be the recipient of these funds directly. Once a Redwing, Always a Redwing!"
Friends left glowing candles outside the football field on Thursday with notes and his team number, #5.
