American Flags, War Memorials Vandalized in Hoboken
Garbage cans at Pier A Park and Frank Sinatra Park were also damaged over the weekend.
Several American flags, two war memorials and nine garbage cans from two of Hoboken's public parks were vandalized between Thursday night and Friday morning, police said.
The nine American flags surrounding the rock commemorating World War I at the foot of Pier A Park were damaged, police said. Rather than upright, some of the flags were on the floor surrounding the rock.
One of flag's brown sticks was broken in half, police said, the other flags were damaged.

The World War II memorial at Frank Sinatra Park was also damaged, police said. The memorial looked like "someone tried to erase" the name of former State Senator Bernard Kenny on the plaque close to the memorial.
Police said this was the fourth time the memorial at Frank Sinatra Park was damaged in the same spot. The first three times, however, had not been reported to the police.
