At Least Three People Unconscious After Standing in Carlo's Bakery Line

Dozens of people stood in the long line for Carlo's Bakery on Tuesday around noon—the hottest time of day—on one of the hottest days of the year.

Two women, ages 18 and 36, and one little girl fainted due to heat exhaustion after waiting in line for Carlo's Bakery on Tuesday afternoon, Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance officials said.

Around noon, the temperature on Washington Street was roughly 98º Fahrenheit.

The City has opened two cooling centers, one at the Wallace School and one at 220 Adams St. Both will be open for at least the coming 24 hours.
