Although the only person who seems to know anything about the poll is Tony Soares, who serves as chairman of the Zoning Board and North Hudson Sewage Authority Commissioner. Soares, who says he was called randomly by pollsters, is a supporter of Mayor Dawn Zimmer and a long-time political ally of Council President Carol Marsh and Fourth Ward Councilman Michael Lenz.

According to Carroll's story "the allegation is sketchy, but not unlikely."

Mason denied the allegations and told Carroll that she isn't interested in a higher office. "If I'm going to run for anything," Mason was quoted as saying, "I'm going to run for my seat on City Council."
