City Council to Discuss Legislation, A New App Developed in Hoboken and More Coming This Week

This week, Hoboken residents will have an opportunity to attend meetings about Hoboken's revaluation process. More meetings were added by the city.

This week is the first week the Hoboken Homeless Shelter will be able to use its brand new kitchen. According to director Jaclyn Cherubini, the shelter is still looking for donation to stack its shelves.

On Wednesday night, the City Council will meet for the second meeting this month.

One of the issues that will be discussed will be the future of the Vision 20/20 project — a proposal to overhaul the Hoboken Housing Authority. In order for the HHA to apply for federal funding, the City Council will have to approve a certificate of need. The matter was discussed at the last council meeting as well as Thursday's HHA meeting.

On Wednesday's meeting agenda, Councilmembers Theresa Castellano and Tim Occhipinti are proposing a candidate for the Hoboken Housing Authority, to fill Commissioner Jake Stuiver's seat. Stuiver's term officialy expired on May 1. Since there are still only eight members on the city council, the vote could end up in a stalemate.

Before the meeting, Mayor Dawn Zimmer has called for a closed session to approve a special council as well as multiple law suits in which the city is currently involved.
