Dwek to be Sentenced in Newark Federal Court

Solomon Dwek, the FBI informant who helped bring down Hoboken's former mayor, was scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday afternoon.

Solomon Dwek, a Monmouth County developer as well as an informant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation who helped bring down former Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano, was scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on Thursday, according to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney's office.

Dwek pleaded guilty for his role in a scheme to defraud PNC Bank of more than $50 million in October 2009 and was charged with bank fraud and money laundering.

Cammarano, former councilman Michael Schaffer, Councilman Michael Russo and former Public Safety Director Angel Alicea all met with Dwek to discuss illicit campaign contributions.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Dwek "cooperated with law enforcement in investigations of pre-existing money laundering networks that operated internationally and laundered millions of dollars through charitable, non-profit entities; illegal trafficking of human organs; and public corruption."
