Ex-Official Accused of Hacking Emails to Testify in Cummins Case

Patrick Ricciardi, the city’s former Information Technology who was arrested last November for allegedly hacking into the mayor’s email account, is expected to make his first public appearance about his role in the matter on Wednesday.
Ricciardi’s appearance will be on the third, and last day of administrative hearings in the case of Jonathan Cummins vs. the City of Hoboken. Cummins was Ricciardi’s assistant in the city’s IT office. Marcia Tapia, Cummins' attorney, announced Ricciardi's scheduled appearance at the end of Monday's hearing in the same case.
Ricciardi is scheduled to be called to the stand at the Office of Administrative Law Court in Newark, in Judge Evelyn Marose’s courtroom.
Cummins, who is also expected to take the stand on Wednesday, is appealing his termination, claiming that the city denied him his rights and wrongfully terminated him.
to sending out confidential, hacked emails to third parties, based on multiple testimonies over the past few days.
The city is not expected to call any more witnesses in the case, for which hearings began on Friday.
Former Business Administrator Arch Liston, former Corporation Counsel Mark Tabakin, union lawyer Merrick Limsky and information technology specialist Edward Reiss have already testified.
Ricciardi appeared in federal court on the day of his arrest last year, but hasn’t been back. He also hasn’t plead guilty or not-guilty yet, nor has he been sentenced.
