FBW Executive Director's statements have full support of Board

FBW Chair responds to Councilwoman Fisher's incorrect statement at the April 7 City Council meeting.

To the Editor:

At the April 7th Hoboken City Council meeting, Council member Tiffanie Fisher publicly asserted that FBW’s Board of Directors disagreed with statements made by its Executive Director, Ron Hine, regarding the North End Plan and the proposed “linear park.” Mr. Hine’s April 6th letter to the Council, Mayor and other administration officials very clearly and succinctly stated FBW’s position regarding the existing North End Plan.

In developing policy on planning and urban design issues, FBW’s Executive Director consults with professionals who have an expertise in these matters - as we have done for the past 30 years. The Board provides overall direction in accordance with our mission, and supports our Executive Director’s authority to make statements to the Mayor and Council as well as the public. A healthy debate may take place on some issues among the Board and staff, but to suggest that Mr. Hine was advancing a private agenda is completely incorrect. He has the full faith and confidence of every FBW Board member.
