High Wind Advisory Issued For Hoboken, Hudson County: Local Weekend Weather Forecast Here

Are you planning an outdoor activity this weekend in Hoboken? You might want to take precautions.

On Friday morning, the National Weather Service issued a weekend weather advisory for the area.

The NWS High Wind Watch predicts “strong and gusty winds” for Saturday night and Sunday morning. Winds may reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, forecasters predict.

“Trees and power lines may be downed… This may lead to scattered power outages… and difficulty driving high-profile vehicles,” NWS forecasters stated.

The Hudson County Office of Emergency Management suggested that residents should take protective measures by securing any yard or lawn items as well as trash receptacles.

LOCAL FORECAST

The following forecast comes via the NWS.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 72. South wind 13 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: A chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Southwest wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 19 to 24 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: A chance of snow showers before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Windy, with a northwest wind 23 to 32 mph, with gusts as high as 48 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.
