Hoboken Boy, 10, Climbs Youth Fencing Ranks

A 10-year-old Hoboken fencer is racking up some big wins and making his hometown proud.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A 10-year-old Hoboken fencer is racking up some big wins and making his hometown proud.

Hoboken resident Devyn Anthony, who trains at the Jersey City-based Cobra Fencing Club, captured a gold medal at the New Jersey Fencing Alliance regional tournament last week.

  • Gold medal at the Cobra Fencing Challenge in the Meadowlands Exposition Center
  • Silver medal at the Fairfax, Virginia youth fencing tournament
  • Bronze medal at the Boston Fencing Club tournament
  • 5th place finish in the National Fencing Championships
  • Gold medal at the Mission Fencer Center tournament in Long Island

Anthony is currently ranked third in the country for his age group, Y10, (ten and under) and weapon, which is the saber.
