Nor'easter Aftermath In Hoboken: Cars Can Park On Street Again
After the nor'easter, street sweeping is suspended until Monday. Find out when forecasters think it will snow next (hint: holiday weekend).
HOBOKEN, NJ — After a nor'easter hit Hoboken Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing nearly a foot of snow, the city said that as of 2 p.m. Thursday, residents could go back to parking on the street as plowing had largely finished.
The superintendent of schools also had an announcement: Schools will continue to be remote on Friday, as they were Thursday. Read more here.

On Thursday, the city announced:
Parking permitted on snow emergency routes as of 2 p.m.: The City’s regulations on snow emergency routes will conclude as of 2 pm today (Thursday).
Street cleaning suspended Friday, resumes Monday Street cleaning enforcement is suspended today (Thursday), will be suspended on Friday, December 18 and will resume on Monday, December 21. All other parking rules and regulations remain in effect.
Discounted garage parking extended Discounted garage parking for $5/day in municipal garages B, D and Midtown will be extended through Friday, December 18 at 2:00 pm for residents and permit holders who are already parked in the garage. Regular rates will apply past 2 pm on Friday.
Keeping Sidewalks Clear With the completion of the storm, property owners/occupants have six (6) hours after to remove snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property, along with adjoining wheelchair ramps or curb cuts. Residents are urged to assist elderly or disabled neighbors with clearing snow from their properties. It is illegal to shovel snow back onto streets or onto fire hydrants. The City performs proactive inspections and also relies on citizen complaints to help us identify those property owners that are not meeting sidewalk safety requirements. The vast majority of property owners comply with these regulations, but the City will issue fines to those who do not keep sidewalks clear.
Reporting Problems To report an unplowed street, unshoveled sidewalk, or other problem, residents can submit an online complaint via https://www.hobokennj.gov/ 311 or via the Hoboken 311 mobile application.
Clearing snow from parklets Business should clear snow at least four feet in all directions from existing parklets.
Recycling on schedule Thursday, garbage Friday Paper/cardboard recycling is on schedule for tonight (Thursday), with garbage collection resuming on Friday. When placing paper/cardboard on the curb, please make every effort to keep the paper/cardboard dry.
COVID testing resumes Friday The City of Hoboken’s COVID-19 testing providers will resume testing on a regular schedule on Friday, December 18. For additional information and to sign-up for an appointment, please visit http://www.hobokennj.gov/testing.
