HOBOKEN, NJ — On a historic Election Day Tuesday, Hoboken didn't have much of a conundrum when considering its only local race. Three incumbent school board members ran unopposed to retain their seats.

Hoboken will see a more heated local race next year as the mayor and three councilmembers-at-large have the chance to run.

In the Hoboken Board of Education race, Board President Sharyn Angley ran with members Chetali Khanna and Melanie Tekirian on a slate known as "Hoboken Together." All have children in the school district. During the campaign, Angley said, "Not only are we committed to the district as board members, but also as parents."

Marijuana and Hoboken

Election Day

Voters reported that lines in Hoboken were short, and one person who didn't receive a mail-in ballot in time reported an easy time of voting at the polling place.

"Daughter and I went very easy," said the voter on Tuesday afternoon, after posting on Hoboken Patch that she was concerned about not receiving a mail-in ballot. "Hardly anybody just had to fill out the forms. At Multi-Center [124 Grand St.] Thanks."

As of Wednesday afternoon, a victor had not been decided in the contentious presidential race, with some ballots still being counted. The matter ultimately may be decided by the courts.
