HOBOKEN, NJ — The pandemic may have changed a lot of things, but students in the Hoboken public schools will still get their snow day.

Hoboken Schools Superintendent Christine Johnson announced on Sunday morning that the schools will be closed Monday in anticipation of a nor'easter that may bring a foot of the white stuff to the area over three days. The announcement pertains from PreK through 12. (See the latest snow accumulation prediction for Hoboken below.)

"The Hoboken Public School District will be closed tomorrow, Monday, February 1st for Preschool through 12th grade students due to predicted inclement weather," Johnson wrote. "We will not operate remote learning. This will be a snow day for all. Thank you for your cooperation."

During the last snowy nor'easter in December — which brought less snow to the area than what's predicted this time — schools were remote.

On Saturday, the city of Hoboken announced that people should move their cars from snow emergency routes, and other changes.

The National Weather Service says that 9-13 inches could fall just on Monday. They have issued an alert saying snow could total 16-22 inches from Sunday night through early Tuesday morning.
