Hoboken Man Arrested After Alleged Bat Assault

Victim says attacker smashed his car, struck his arm.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Hoboken man Wednesday just before midnight, after he allegedly assaulted a 27-year-old Jersey City man with a bat, according to police reports. 

Alexis Rosario was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon and unlawful posession of a weapon. 

The victim told officers he was driving a gray, 2005 Chevrolet, with his girlfriend in the car, when the car driving in front of them came to a sudden halt in front of 527 Jackson St. and Rosario stepped out holding a baseball bat.

According to the police report, Rosario then walked up to the victim's car and started swinging the bat at it, shattering the front and the rear window at the driver's side. When the victim stepped out of the car, police said, Rosario hit him with the bat in his left arm, causing a laceration and a swelling. 

After the assault, Rosario got back in his car, where his girlfriend and 1-year-old son were waiting, the victim told the police.

The two knew each other from high school, where they got into a fight about 12 years ago, according to the police report.

"Every time the two parties see each other they get involved in a verbal altercation but it has never gone this far," the police report stated.
