Hoboken Police Catch Alleged Burglar in the Act

North Bergen resident allegedly broke into Monroe Street apartment and stole a $600 watch, police say.

Hoboken Police caught an alleged burglar in the act on Friday morning at 613 Monroe St., according to reports.

Edgar Pizarro, a 25-year-old North Bergen resident, was arrested in the building's second floor lobby, police said.

Around 8:20 a.m., police arrived at 613 Monroe St., where they found the ladder of the fire escape down. One police officer entered an apartment, and found no one inside. When the officer walked through the apartment and opened the front door, he stood eye-to-eye with Pizarro, according to reports.

Pizarro had a silver Armani watch on him, which appeared to belong to one of the residents of the apartment, a 23-year-old man. The watch was valued at $600, police said.

When asked for identification, Pizarro couldn't provide it. Pizarro was arrested on March 5 for allegedly stealing liquor from the Texas Arizona storage room, police said.
