Hoboken Removes Assemblyman as Head of Housing Authority

Tumultuous meeting ends with vote to oust Carmelo Garcia and name Richard Fox as his replacement.

A decision to terminate the contract of Hoboken Housing Authority’s executive director was finally reached after nearly two-and-a-half hours of debate and more controversy Monday night at City Hall.

Carmelo Garcia, who is also a 33rd District assemblyman, was removed his HHA’s post and replaced by Richard Fox, according to NJ.com.

The meeting was interrupted several times as hundreds of supporters rallied for Garcia with nearly 200 of them not being allowed into the meeting due to overcrowding, the report said.
