Hoboken Drivers: Move Your Cars By Wee Hours Of Thursday For Snow
Street sweeping is canceled for Thursday and Friday. Find out what the National Weather Service predicts for Hoboken.

HOBOKEN, NJ — After this past weekend's ice storm knocked out power to more than 18,000 people in New Jersey — including in uptown Hoboken — weather watchers are keeping a wary eye on another winter storm that's predicted to hit the area Thursday.
The storm could bring 5 to 9 inches of snow, according to the forecast for Hoboken. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the area from Thursday at 6 a.m. through Friday at 6 a.m.
The city of Hoboken has suspended street cleaning on Thursday and Friday, and canceled recycling on Thursday. They also asked drivers to move their cars from emergency routes starting at 1 a.m. (See more on that below.)

Here is the NWS prediction for Hoboken:
- Thursday: Snow, mainly after 10 a.m. High near 28. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Northeast wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
- Thursday Night: Snow. Low around 28. Northeast wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
- Friday: Rain, snow, and sleet likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.
On Tuesday night, the city of Hoboken told drivers that they must move their cars off snow emergency routes by 1 a.m. Thursday morning. These routes include:

Hoboken emergency snow routes:
- Washington Street (both sides)
- Observer Highway (both sides) Henderson St to Hudson St
- Willow Avenue — West Side – Observer Hwy to 11th St
- Third Street – North Side – Jackson St to River St
- Fourth Street – South Side – River St to Jackson St
- Fifth Street- South Side – Clinton St to River St
- Ninth Street – North Side – Jackson St to Castle Point Terrace
- 13th Street – North Side – Washington St to Madison St
- 13th Street – South Side – Washington St to Hudson St
Discounted garage parking will be available in city garages starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday night. For more information and a map of snow routes in the city, click here.
"Due to the potential for up to 8 inches of snow, emergency snow routes will go into effect beginning at 1 a.m. Thursday morning," said the city's message. "Vehicles parked on snow emergency routes after 1 a.m. are subject to towing. This is necessary to move police, fire and ambulances throughout Hoboken in time of emergency for the safety and welfare of all citizens."
"If you do not have to travel during the inclement weather, stay home and do not drive," the city wrote. "If you must travel, please use mass transit."
