Hobokenite Assaulted in Apartment Building Hallway

A 37-year-old was punched repeatedly by three unknown men, police said.

A 37-year-old Hobokenite was allegedly assaulted by three men in the hallway of his apartment building at 800 Madison St. around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, according to police reports.

The man was watching television in his living room when he heard noise coming from the hallway, police said.

The Hobokenite opened his door and found that a religious object that used to hang by his door was now on the floor, police said. The man then confronted the three men he saw in the hallway, police said.

The victim said he was afraid the three men were going to assault him and he pushed one of the men against the wall, police said. A fight almost immediately broke out.

One of the men tackled the victim to the floor, while another kicked him and punched him in the face repeatedly, police said.

The three men were described as white men—all around 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10 in height, police said.

Several apartments in the building are being used as dormatories for Stevens Institute of Technology students, police said. The victim told police that the three men looked like they could be of college age.

The three men left after the alleged assault, leaving the victim with a swollen cheek, a gash on the left side of his face as well as a cut behind his right ear, police said.
