Hoboken's First CERT Class Graduates

Fourteen civilians are now certified to help out with emergency rescue services in Hoboken

Hoboken's first ever civilian Community Emergency Response Team has been established.

After ten long weeks of emergency rescue training, 14 Hobokenites are now certified to do basic first aide, basic search and rescue, basic fire suppression and basic mental illness diagnosis.

Patrick Ricciardi, deputy coordinator of the Office of Emergency Management, taught the course, which took place on Monday evenings in City Hall.

The fourteen graduates of the program will be recognizable at large HOboken events, through their green CERT vests. All participants got a bag with all the necessary attributes—vest, tool and hard hat included.

Ricciardi said there will be more CERT classes in the future. If you're interested, you can apply for the team by e-mailing certteam@hobokennj.org.
