Hudson County COVID Numbers And Trends This Week

Fourteen Hudson County residents passed away from the virus in the past week, down from 18 last week. Three million in NJ are vaccinated.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Deaths from coronavirus in Hudson County have slowed but have not stopped, according to the weekly numbers from the state. Meanwhile, there was good news Friday: Gov. Phil Murphy announced that 3 million people have been fully vaccinated in New Jersey. This news came on the one-year anniversary of the state's largest one-day death toll from the virus: 460 New Jerseyans from April 29 to April 30, 2020.

As of this Friday, 2,005 Hudson County residents have passed away from the virus since the pandemic reached the United States. This was 14 new fatalities since a week ago, when the toll was 1,991.

The previous week, Hudson County had lost 18 residents to coronavirus. And the week before that, 25 residents passed away due to the virus.

This is a downward adjustment from last Friday's count of 78,104 cases. It's higher than the total of 76,100 the week before that.

The disease’s impact is reflected in the state Department of Health's most recent "COVID-19 Activity Level Report," issued weekly. The report influences whether schools go remote or change their schedules, as well as other factors.
