Hudson County Fire Weather Warning Issued A Day After N.J. Brush Fires

Dry air masses and a lack of recent rain are contributing to the fire warning, the Hudson County OEM says.

The Hudson County Office of Emergency Management issued the following alert at 8:48 a.m. on Wednesday:

"An elevated fire weather potential exists through much of the day today. An extremely dry air mass with minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 30 percent... Dry fine fuels due to lack of recent rain... And seasonably mild temperatures are causing this elevated state. Northerly winds may gust up to 20 mph at times this morning. Winds are expected to diminish during the afternoon."

Significant brush fires in Secaucus and Kearny temporarily shut down rail travel in the North Jersey region on Tuesday.
