Jersey City MVC Is Closed For A Week Due To Coronavirus Case
The Motor Vehicle Commission office had to close after an employee tested positive, the state agency Tweeted.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — To compound the problems of long waits at New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission offices, the MVC office in Jersey City has closed for a week because an employee tested positive for coronavirus.
According to Tweets sent from the state Motor Vehicle Commission on Monday night and Tuesday morning, the office on Summit Avenue, near Journal Square, is closed until Oct. 6, when it will reopen.
JERSEY CITY VEHICLE CENTER is closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19, and will reopen on Tuesday, October 6.

The Jersey City office handles forms and licenses but not inspections.

The state's motor vehicle agencies had closed for four months at the height of the coronavirus crisis, then reopened July 7 with large backups and drivers lining up early in the morning. The state instituted changes to help, but is still dealing with a backlog.
Earlier this month, a Hoboken-based assemblywoman opened a popup satellite office in that city for a day, but had to close it after an hour after processing its limit of 100 drivers.
