Jersey City Woman Charged With Abusing Infant At Hoboken Day Care

The Hoboken day care center reported the matter, involving a 9-month-old girl, to the authorities, according to the Prosecutor's Office.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A 52-year-old Jersey City woman was arrested and charged with abusing a 9-month-old girl in her care while an employee of the Kiddie Academy of Hoboken, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced Wednesday.

Diana Camacho, 52, of Jersey City, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a crime of the second degree, the prosecutor said.

Camacho was arrested on Tuesday at approximately 4:45 p.m. at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office after she turned herself in, the prosecutor said.

The Special Victims Unit was contacted by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, Institutional Abuse Investigations Unit (IAIU) about possible abuse and launched an investigation, the Prosecutor's Office said. The matter was first reported to the IAIU by the daycare center, the prosecutor said.
