Man Charged With Theft Of Tip Jar In Hoboken

Hoboken police said after they apprehended the New York man for allegedly stealing a tip jar, he hit his head on a car, smashing the window.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Police said they apprehended a 24-year-old New York man Wednesday and charged him with stealing a tip jar from a business on lower Washington Street in Hoboken. As they were searching the man, he "started to yell and struck his head against the rear windshield of a parked car, causing it to shatter," according to police.

Police said that on Wednesday, around 1:37 p.m., Officer Jason Montalvo observed a male being chased by a second male. Montalvo stopped the first male and found him in possession of a plastic jar with money inside, police said.

The man was identified as Daniel Bostick, 24. He was being chased by an employee of a business located on the 100 Block of Washington Street.

The employee claimed that Bostick entered the business and took the jar, police said.

When police were searching Bostick, he struck his head on the parked car. He was transported to police headquarters and offered medical attention.

He was charged on a summons with theft and criminal mischief. He was released with a court date.
