Mayor Proposes Plan to Redesign Frank Sinatra Drive
The issue will be discussed during Wednesday night's Hoboken council meeting.

The administration is looking to redesign Fran Sinatra Drive into a "complete street," according to an announcement from Mayor Dawn Zimmer's office.
The goal, according to the announcement, is to make Sinatra Drive a street "that can be enjoyed by all Hoboken residents for walking, running, biking and driving."
The plan includes banning large commercial vehicles from Sinatra Drive between Fourth and Eleventh Streets. The mayor is also asking the city council to reconsider bonding for the redesign of Sinatra Drive.

"Our waterfront is the treasure of our city, and I want to make certain that it becomes a safe recreational destination for our residents and visitors," Zimmer said in a press release. "These steps are consistent with our master plan’s vision for a more pedestrian friendly area with waterfront opportunities for active and passive recreation."
By redesigning Frank Sinatra Drive, Zimmer said, it would become one of the city's recreational assets.Â

"In addition to improving the quality of life for Hoboken, this action also provides economic development benefits because companies want to locate in communities that can offer a great quality of life for their employees," Zimmer said.
