NJ Transit Expands Mobile Ticketing to NYC Bus Routes

Commuters will be able to buy interstate bus passes via mobile device app and avoid long lines

NJ Transit announced the expansion of its MyTix mobile ticketing application to allow commuters to buy monthly bus passes between New Jersey and New York City.

The mobile ticketing app, previously available to rail passengers and South Jersey bus passengers, was expanded to interstate bus routes that travel to Lower Manhattan, the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan and that cross the George Washington Bridge.

NJ Transit says the plan is to eventually expand the service to intra-state bus service in New Jersey.

“With bus rides being our largest customer base, its critical that we roll out gradually to ensure the technology keeps up with the demand, and we resolve any issues before taking the next step,” said Veronique “Ronnie” Hakim, executive director of NJ Transit.”

The MyTix app is available for download to any web enabled iOS or Android device through Google Play or the App store.
