Police Arrest Alleged Career Burglar in Downtown Hoboken

Police arrested 52-year-old Hobokenite Billy Bosch on Thursday night, after the alleged career burglar was caught breaking into apartments on Madison Street.

The detective bureau's anti-crime unit caught Bosch in the act a little before 5 p.m. while allegedly burglarizing apartments at 307 Madison St., said Det. Sgt. Edwin Pantoja.

Bosch is well known to police, said Pantoja, who described him as "the worst burglar I have ever dealt with."

Because of Bosch's criminal history in Hoboken, Pantoja said, he was able to recognize him. Pantoja said Bosch entered 307 Madison St. and left the building less than three minutes later, carrying a red bag.

Bosch has been arrested "numerous times," Pantoja said.

It was later found that the red bag contained a lap top, a kindle fire, a watch and several documents belonging to a 25-year-old male resident on the second floor of 307 Madison St., police said.

The officer then continued to follow Bosch, who went to his mother's building on Fifth Street. Before he could open the door, Pantoja said he apprehended Bosch.

Bosch allegedly kicked in the doors of three apartments, tried to enter three others and removed items from one. He was charged with three counts of burglary, one count of theft and three counts of attempted burglary, police said.

Pantoja said Bosch will go to the county jail.
