Police: Three Arrested After Late Night Assault

A man told police he was assaulted and had his iPhone stolen on Saturday in Hoboken.

Hoboken police arrested three men on Saturday morning, after they allegedly assaulted and robbed a 27-year-old Short Hills man.

The incident occured around 3:15 a.m., police said, when a group of five people allegedly took the man's iPhone — worth $450 — and punched and kicked him, police said.

Police were able to apprehend three of the alleged assailants on the corner of First and Washington, according to a police report.

Police arrested Union City residents Antholin Bretton, 23, and Michael Castro, 23 as well as 24-year-old Victor Almanzar from Jersey City, according to reports, and charged them with robbery.

The incident started on downtown Washington Street, when the victim left a fast food chain and noticed people following him, police said.

Once the men started assaulting him, he told police that he was "kicked and punched from every direction," according to the police report.

The victim was treated by members of the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
