Recycling Bins Available for Hobokenites (First Come, First Serve)

The city has 1,000 free bins.

The city has announced it has 1,000 available recycling bins for those Hobokenites who need one.

In 2011, Hoboken switched to "single stream" recycling, which basically means you put all your recycle trash into the same bin.

The recycling containers and lids are available for pickup at the Municipal Garage located on Willow Avenue between Observer Highway and Newark Street Monday through Friday, 9am through 4pm. There is a limit of one bin per household, and residents should bring proof of address. Multi-unit buildings may collect up to one bin for every five units.

The City reminds residents that all garbage and recyclables should be placed at the curb for pickup. Although this has always been required by City ordinance, the City’s trash hauler would previously remove garbage and recyclables from within gated areas as a courtesy to residents. However, following complaints from several residents about vendors entering within or wrongly removing items from private property, the hauler will no longer remove any garbage or recycling from within gated areas. Only garbage and recycling placed at the curb will be picked up.
