Stevens Institute Star Named Head of NCAA Committee

Lacrosse captain Amanda Ingersoll named chair of D-III Student Athlete Advisory Committee

Stevens Institute of Technology said Amanda Ingersoll, a senior mechanical engineering major and captain of the women’s lacrosse team, was named national chair of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division III student athletic advisory committee.
The 24 member committee includes 12 male and 12 female student athletes representing about 540 Division III schools from around the country. Ingersoll, a two-year captain of the women’s lacrosse team, became a national committee member as a sophomore, before being named a vice chair a year ago and then being elected earlier this month.

She succeeds Chelsea Shoemaker, a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology and a collegiate softball and soccer star.

“To be selected as chair of this committee and to help bring all of the student-athlete voices to the membership of the NCAA is such an amazing honor,” Ingersoll said. “I am excited to have this opportunity in my final year of the committee and as a Steven’s student-athlete.”
