HOBOKEN, NJ — With so many kids home during quarantine, and now home again for winter break, the Hoboken Police Department is continuing its video series called "Storytime with the Hoboken Police," in which they read books to kids. In fact, they've started a special "holiday edition" in which they read about holidays with help from their own children.
Of special note, Officer Frank "Duke" McCourt reads with his youngest partner on the beat ever, his adorable "Santa Baby," who coos at (and stares at) every page. He'll be a great reader before he's out of diapers.
Also, Sgt. Josh Velez gets help learning about Kwanzaa. Velez says at the end of his video that he's dedicating it to Sgt. Pete Zanin, who passed away last month and always made sure needy kids got presents through local toy drives.

"Pete, we miss you, and you're never going to be forgotten," Velez says. (Zanin made his own video in May.)

Officer Melissa Gigante introduced the series on April 15. "We understand that being home away from your parents is not the ideal situation," she says. "In an attempt to bring smiles to your home, we will have a different officer reading a book aloud right here ... who doesn't love a good book? As C.S. Lewis said, 'We read to know we are not alone.'
