Suspicious Package Shuts Down Connors School
After about two and a half hours the package was removed and the school was reopened. Nobody was hurt.
The Connors School was on lockdown for two hours on Wednesday afternoon, after a suspicious package was found on the corner of Second and Monroe Streets.
The package — which was opened and taken away by the Jersey City Bomb Squad around 1:30 p.m. — contained hangers.
It's unclear who had put the package there, said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Toback.

"We're treating it very seriously," Toback said. All the windows were secured and the students in the building were all moved to the other side of the school. Nobody was allowed in or out the building while the package was on the corner.
A teacher at the Connors School, which has students up to seventh grade, saw the package and notified the principal, who then called the Hoboken Police Department.

"The kids were phemomenal," Toback said.
