Moms Forum Post Claiming Attempted Child Abduction: Real or Hoax?
Police have not been able to confirm the accuracy of a post on a local mom forum warning about an attempted abduction in the Shipyard.
Hoboken police have not been able to confirm the accuracy of a post on local Yahoo Group Hoboken Moms about an attempted child abduction in the Shipyard.
Around 1:26 p.m. on Tuesday, a member of the group posted: "Alert white van no license plate! Tried taking baby from mom near the shipyard rite aid! Had mask n gun! Please don't let your child wonder [sic] around!"
Mayor Dawn Zimmer and the Hoboken Police Department were notified immediately, spokesman Juan Melli said Tuesday. The van wasn't found in the area, and police had no further information.

On Wednesday, Melli said, "Despite an ongoing investigation, the Hoboken Police Department remains unable to confirm that any of the allegations that were made are factual."
The city asks that anyone with information contact the Hoboken Police Department at 201-420-2110.
