A popular Hoboken coffee shop will close at the end of July, and a popular Italian restaurant has already closed.
HOBOKEN, NJ — A popular coffee shop that promoted local artists, and an Italian restaurant on the west side of Hoboken that filled tummies for 34 years, both announced this month that they are closing.

Hudson Coffee, a spacious coffee and pastry shop at 1100 Maxwell Lane (not far from the old Maxwell House Coffee factory), announced on Instagram and Facebook last week that it will close on July 31.
Besides selling the wares of various local artists and featuring their work around the store, the shop also offered Print With Me printing and copying services at a time when other facilities were hard to reach during the pandemic. (The UPS Store uptown and library also offer copying and printing, but with fewer operating hours.)

Those who were fans of the coffee drinks, other specialty beverages, and baked goods can still patronize the owners' other shop, Bean Vault Coffee, tucked into a cozy space not far from the waterfront at 1 Newark St.
The store had only been open since spring 2018. The store's website shares the story of how owner Justin DePascale, a Hoboken police officer, founded the shop (and Bean Vault) after he developed a love of coffee later in life.
Other Coffee News
In related coffee news, Hoboken may soon see a new shop serving specialty coffees on Washington Street. JerseyDigs reported Wednesday that the owner of Bagels on the Hudson has applied to the city for signage for Pour Amor Coffee at 123 Washington St. Read more about that here.
Delfino's Closes After 34 Years
Meanwhile, Delfino's, an Italian restaurant and pizzeria that's a staple of the west side of Hoboken, served its last chicken parm last week. The spot was located at 500 Jefferson St.
They served everything from Lobster fra Diavalo to pork chops to various pizzas.
Hoboken-based writer Jack Silbert wrote, in his ode this week, "In the summers, Delfino’s would take an extended vacation, and I’d use the opportunity to sample other chicken parms around town. Nobody has ever come remotely close. It’s just a magical perfect balance of tender breaded chicken, robust (not sweet) sauce, and melty cheese on crispy, chewy Hoboken bread."
