Vote To Amend Taxi Regulations Postponed Again

The city council again tabled an ordinance to amend the rules and regulations governing taxis in Hoboken.

Dozens of Hoboken's cab drivers intent on defending some of their rules and regulations.

The taxi drivers are contesting a two-year-old law — which has never been strictly enforced by the city — mandates that a taxi can't be older than four years or have driven more than 125,000 miles, whichever comes last.

It also dictates that all new vehicles must be hybrids.

The city council is planning to look at the law and possibly change some of the rules.

While the issue was on the agenda on Wednesday night, it was removed from the agenda and sent to subcommittee for further discussion.
