The youngest child of the famous rocker was one of 15 sworn in at a City Hall ceremony Tuesday morning, with both parents in the front row.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — He was born to run...toward an emergency if needed. Sam Springsteen, 26, the younger son of rockers Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, was sworn in Tuesday morning as a Jersey City firefighter. Both parents sat in the front row at the ceremony at Jersey City Hall.

Sam Springsteen had previously served as a volunteer firefighter in Colts Neck after graduating from the Monmouth County Fire Academy in 2014. His father grew up in Freehold Borough and now lives on a horse farm in Colts Neck.

Springsteen was one of 15 new firefighters sworn in Tuesday, after receiving five months of training at a fire academy in Morristown. "It wasn't easy," he told reporters afterward, according to Daily Voice.

Springsteen received resounding applause as he went up, in uniform and white gloves, to receive his pins from the chief.

Mayor Steven Fulop Tweeted afterward, "The Boss @springsteen + Patti visited us in #JerseyCity City Hall today. They’re such nice ppl. We got to spend some time in my office talking about music but more than that they’re proud parents of a new JC Firefighter. Congrats to all the new FF joining the best FD anywhere."
