Who's Vaccinated In Hoboken? 98 Percent Of Seniors Got First Dose
The state of New Jersey recently released updated statistics for who's vaccinated in each New Jersey city by age group, including Hoboken.

HOBOKEN, NJ — New Jersey officials announced last week that state employees and volunteers dubbed the "COVID-19 Community Corps" will be knocking on doors in any towns that haven't reached 70 percent of their adult population getting their first doses, the state's target goal.
Hoboken has exceeded that goal in one group: Senior citizens.
According to statistics released Friday by the state of New Jersey:

These Hoboken residents have received at least one dose:
- All ages, 59 percent
- 18 and over, 67 percent
- 65 and over, 98 percent
These residents are fully vaccinated:

- All ages, 53 percent
- 18 and over, 60 percent
- 65 and over, 91 percent
Four weeks ago, these were the percentages of fully vaccinated Hobokenites:
- All ages: 47 percent
- 18 and over: 55 percent
- 65 and over: 87 percent.
The city has made the shot available to bedridden seniors and others. The city is also still running vaccination clinics for residents 12 and older (more information is here).
Other COVID Updates And Statistics
Last week, New Jersey announced for the first time that there were no deaths reported in New Jersey hospitals since a day last July 2020. However, the virus is still a threat, especially for those unvaccinated:
- This past Monday, the state reported four new coronavirus deaths confirmed since the day before, and 304 hospitalized battling the virus, 57 of those in ICU and 29 on ventilators.
- A report last week said that 98 percent to 99 percent of recent COVID deaths in America were unvaccinated people.
- So far, 604,000 Americans have passed away due to the virus.
- Studies have shown that the vaccine is at least 95 percent effective against the virus, and among those who still get the virus, it will reduce the chance of hospitalization and death.
- The CDC said that people can consider themselves "fully vaccinated" two weeks after their final shot.
- New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said Monday that there won't be a state mask mandate for schools in the fall, and each district will get to decide.
- On Monday, the state reported one new report of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children, 0 children hospitalized, and 128 cumulative cases since the start of the pandemic.
- Some are concerned about variants of the virus, such as the Delta variant.
