7.7K Without Power In Hopatcong, Sparta
Breaking: A significant number of homes are without power, and its not clear when it'll be back.

HOPATCONG, NJ — Over 7,700 homes are without power in Hopatcong and Sparta as a powerful thunderstorm rolls through northern New Jersey. As of 5 p.m., 2,374 Hopatcong homes and 5,389 Sparta homes are without power. That's nearly 63 percent of all Sparta homes.
Because the outage is storm related, JCP&L cannot currently say when power will be back on. The company said earlier on Tuesday they were monitoring the storm.
The worst of the storm is expected to clear by 7 p.m., but flash flooding, lightning, hail, and wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour are possible until then. A flash flood watch also is in place from 4 p.m. Tuesday through 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.
