Celebrate Halloween With These Activities in Sparta Township
Residents are invited to participate in Scarecrow Saturday, the Munchkin March, and more.

SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ — Halloween is officially two weeks away. Get out your angel wings, firefighter hats and cat ears and kick off the holiday with these safe and spirited activities going on in Sparta Township.
Scarecrow Saturday
Kids are invited to design, create and built their own Scarecrow at Scarecrow Saturday at the lower level of the Sparta Library. The cost is $15 per person and covers hay, decoration, a plastic head, wood and string for each Scarecrow. Kids can bring clothes they want to put their Scarecrow in, and a pumpkin to carve at the event if they wish. This event will take place Oct. 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Come to the lower level of the Sparta Library to see this one-man performance of the famed horror tale "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Professional actor Neill Hartley will put on the show, which is suitable for all ages. Hartley is on the theater faculty of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. This event will kick off Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 per person.

Trunk or Treat and Munchkin March
Sparta residents are encouraged to join in these two events on Oct. 23. Trunk or Treat will begin at 5:30 p.m, where kids can safely trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk in the Sparta Library Parking Lot. If you wish to participate, decorate your vehicle and be at the parking lot by 4:30 p.m. for setup. A prize will be given out for "Best Decorated Trunk." Munchkin March will begin at 6 p.m. at the Memorial Football Field. This costume parade is open to kids of all ages and parents can view from the stands. Prizes will be awarded for certain costumes and treats will be given out to all. Residents are asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Sparta Ecumenical Food Pantry.
